Ballet & Pointe

BEGINNING BALLET (3 & 4 YEAR OLDS): A fun-filled class introducing basic ballet steps, vocabulary words, exercises and stretches, and singalong songs and dances. Designed to engage the child’s creativity; this is an upbeat class full of whimsical music and high energy fun!

PRIMARY 1 (5 & 6 YEARS OLD) : Creative and fun instruction in classical ballet learning the fundamentals of dance including ballet positions, barre basics, turns, jumps, and vocabulary words.

PRIMARY 2 (6 YEAR OLDS W/ PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES & 7 YEAR OLDS): Building on the dancer’s technique, this level introduces kids to the ballet barre along with center and across the floor work. Creating strong technique through stretches and exercises and encouraging the child’s creativity and artistic expression!

PRIMARY 3 (7 & 8 YEAR OLDS): Student’s progress in barre work, learn fun new turns, jumps, and combinations. They learn how body placement, turnout, and flexibility help them balance and grow as a dancer.

PRIMARY 4 (8 & 9 YEAR OLDS): Dancer’s begin to have a full traditional ballet class with barre work and combinations in center and across the floor. They also expand on their knowledge of vocabulary words and their meanings. This level is about building technique while growing their love for artistic expression.

INTERMEDIATE 1, 2, 3, & 4: Student’s grow in their strength, flexibility, technique, and knowledge of ballet. Dancers begin preparations for pre-pointe.

ADVANCED BALLET: Dancer’s train in technical excellence, pointe training, and have a thorough working knowledge of ballet at the barre, center, and across the floor. Our goal is to prepare dancers for pre-professional training if they desire to pursue it.

PRE-POINTE (must be approved by director & enrolled in 2 ballet classes per week): Dancer’s prepare for pointe by learning and conditioning their bodies through exercises and stretches designed to strengthen their bodies for the rigors of pointe work. Exercises specifically target the feet, legs, and core. Dancers read “The Pointe Book” by Janice Barringer and write and share their thoughts on what they learn. Must be at least 11 years old and have the skill and strength necessary for pointe as determined by director.

POINTE 1 (must be enrolled in 2 ballet classes per week): Our Pointe 1 class is for dancers who are newer to dancing en pointe! In this class students learn strong fundamental of pointe through careful barre work and across the floor basics.

POINTE 2 (must be enrolled in 2 ballet classes per week): In our Pointe 2 class dancers progress in their pointe technique through more challenging combinations, learning classical variations, and developing their balance and pointe technique.

Lyrical, Contemporary, & Creative Worship

LYRICAL (AGES 9+): Our Lyrical class will educate students on how to interpret music and lyrics into their movement with developing a  personal expression in their artistry. We will also learn how our creative expression through dance is a way to worship the Lord. Dancers will experience ballet, modern, and jazz technique in class.

CONTEMPORARY (AGES 12+): In our Contemporary class students will  combined the strong and controlled movement of ballet, with elements of modern and jazz dance. In class will be focusing on Martha Graham’s (Mother of Contemporary) technique on contract and release of the body, unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction. We will also tap into Doris Humphrey’s technique style of floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation.

CREATIVE WORSHIP (INTERMEDIATE 3 & UP): Creative Worship class will give students the space and resources to worship through the technique of Ballet, Lyrical, and Modern. This class will teach and guide dancers to use their bodies as a tool to worship freely. The class structure will be for each student to participate in weekly devotionals, technique class, choreography, improv, and creative worship exercises.

Tap & Jazz

INTRO TO TAP & JAZZ (4-6 YEAR OLDS): In our Intro to Tap and Jazz class students will be learn the basic foundation of tap and jazz technique. Students will experience learning rhythm, counting to music, and listening to match sounds. Each week we will be using 30 minutes of class time for jazz and the other 30 minute for tap.

JAZZ 1 (AGES 7-9): This is a high energy class that is perfect for learning important fundamentals of jazz dance. From cartwheels to fan kicks, this class is so much fun and perfect for kids looking to expand their technique and try new things!

JAZZ 2 (AGES 10-12): Building on the fundamentals of Jazz 1 this class will take dancers to new levels and increase their endurance, skills, and artistry!

JAZZ 3 (AGES 13 & UP): Our newest level of Jazz that we’re offering for the very first time will be designed to take our teenage Jazz dancers to new heights! Our goal is for this class to challenge their technique, musicality, and performance skills!

Acro

ACRO 1 (9-12 YEAR OLDS)

Acro 1 is the perfect introduction to acrobatics and tumbling for young dancers. This non-recital class focuses on building a strong technical foundation while improving flexibility, coordination, balance, strength, and muscle awareness. Dancers will learn proper stretching techniques, safe skill execution, and basic understanding of the muscles used in dance and acro training.  This class is appropriate for those who have never tumbled, or have previous tumbling experience as the instructor will work individually with each student.

Skills introduced and developed may include but are not limited to:

  • Forward and backward rolls

  • Bridges and bridge kickovers

  • Cartwheels and one-handed cartwheels, aerial drills

  • Handstands and headstands

  • Back bends, Limbers and walkover preparation

  • Valdez preparation

This class is designed to help dancers safely build confidence and strength that will greatly benefit all areas of dance, especially jazz, lyrical, and contemporary styles. Skills mastered in acro can later be incorporated into choreography in their other dance classes.

ACRO 2 (10-12 YEAR OLDS)

Acro 2 is designed for dancers ready to advance their strength, flexibility, control, and acrobatic technique. This non-recital class emphasizes skill progression, conditioning, injury prevention, and proper technique while continuing to develop overall dance athleticism. Dancers will also gain understanding of important muscle groups and how to safely execute acro skills and dance movements. Each dancer will be met at the level they are at and there is no rush for skill mastery. 

Skills focused on in this level may include but are not limited to:

  • Front and back walkovers

  • Handstand variations and limbers

  • Valdez and backbend variations

  • Front and side aerial preparation

  • Roundoffs and back handspring drills

  • Tuck drills

  • Advanced flexibility and core strengthening

  • Leaps, jumps, and acro transitions for choreography

  • Front handspring drills

  •  Layouts, whip backs, front and back tuck drills and preparations

Acro training helps dancers become stronger, more flexible, and more versatile performers. Skills learned in this class can be incorporated into jazz, lyrical, and contemporary choreography as dancers progress.

ACRO 3 (13+ YEAR OLDS)

Acro 3 is an advanced acrobatics and tumbling class for experienced dancers looking to learn, refine and expand higher-level skills. This non-recital class focuses heavily on strength, flexibility, control, technique, conditioning, and safe skill progression. Dancers will continue learning about body mechanics, muscle engagement, and injury prevention to help them safely perform advanced tricks and transitions.

Skills trained and refined may include but are not limited to:

  • Acro 2 skills

  • Front and back walkovers

  • Front and side aerials

  • Front and Back handsprings

  • Front tucks, Back tucks, and advanced tumbling combinations

  • Layouts and whip backs

  • Advanced turns, jumps, and acro transitions

  • Specialty tricks for jazz, lyrical, and contemporary choreography

This class is ideal for dancers wanting to add dynamic acro elements into their dancing while building the strength, flexibility, and control that enhance every style of dance.

Tuition Rates:

Classes take place once a week and prices refer to monthly tuition rates. The cost of the semester is divided evenly over each month.

The first class is free!

  • Registration fee for new students - $35

  • Registration fee for returning students - $20

  • 45 min class - $70 per month

  • 1 hour class - $75 per month

  • 1 hour & 15 min class - $80 per month

  • 1.5 hour class - $85 per month

An additional sibling receives a $15 discount off tuition.

When taking an additional class the price drops to $50/hr per month.

There is a 5% discount off the total cost of the semester when the semester is paid in full at the beginning of the season.

There are no discounts off for classes missed, however dancers are welcome to come to make up classes!
